Hello!
Long time, no see!
As everyone knows, 2020 has been a year for the books. It’s only April and so much as happened. Kobe and his daughter Gianna passed away. All sports events are cancelled. Campuses across the nation closed. Graduations are cancelled. The coronavirus has taken over our lives.
I am currently in Las Vegas for this stay-at-home order put in because of the coronavirus. The Las Vegas is a complete ghost town at the tourist attractions. The locals are still functioning as normal. Restaurants are only open for take out or drive thru. I am really surprised by how many people I do see out when I do have to go to the grocery store.
My campus at the University of Alabama has closed down and students are not allowed on campus. I stayed in Alabama for the first couple weeks of the shelter at home and it seemed like most people were still functioning as normal. I did travel to Augusta, Georgia for a few days to visit my mom and saw the same.
One thing that has been reminiscing in my mind is not being able to internship the way I wanted this summer. I finally had a free summer to gain experience in a newsroom and many stations are closed. Journalists are forced to work from home and cover constant coronavirus news.
The coronavirus has showed us that we do not have to be in person to get things done. We are social people but this time apart has shown me I am comfortable being alone. I have worked on my body positivity while being in quarantine as well. I have focused on staying active and eating healthier.
I stay active by following a small fitness goal each day. I do 25 abs and 25 legs everyday at 9AM, 12PM, 5PM and 9PM. By the end of the day I have done 100 abs and legs. I also stay active by going for a walk or run once a day.
School has also been overwhelming. As we have transitioned online, there has been more assignments added and I have had at least one assignment due every day of the week since we moved online. This is our final week before finals. Once school is over, I will have more free time to write for my blog and hopefully see you soon.
Stay tuned for some updates on my life in Las Vegas!
